Anytime, Anywhere, So others may live
On call, 24-7, 365, when people in our mountains
and county need help.
Northwest Backcountry Rescue (NWBCR) is a skilled team of motivated volunteers that strive to achieve excellence in all aspects of what we do. We look to improve our team through an open, supportive and enjoyable learning environment to balance our confidence of excellence with humility. We believe that our local community deserves a team of professionals dedicated to respond to searches, rescues, and emergencies. Our members spend countless hours of their free time--and occasionally their work time--training and learning so that they will be ready to respond to a mission on a moment's notice. We work mutually with other search and rescue organizations to accomplish the mission. We set the highest standards for ourselves and the team in order to offer the community our very best. While serving our community, our members contribute with commitment, pride and a strong morale to the mission. We are a self-funded volunteer team committed to providing these services to our community and as requested and needed by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office or other law enforcement agencies.
NWBCR was formed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. We provide search and rescue services mainly in the mountainous areas of Northern Idaho which stretches over 6,800 square miles. We respond to any call to action, at any time by the Kootenai County Sheriff or other local law enforcement agencies in and out of state. Our primary focus is search, rescue and recovery in mountainous and back-country terrain with the capabilities to function throughout extended searches. Because we care about our community's health, safety, and welfare, NWBCR's secondary focus is community education classes such as “Hug-a-Tree”.
